This article will provide answers to questions relating to our innovative Physically Active Learning (PAL) programmes Maths and English on the Move.
How does Physically Active Learning work?
Physically Active Learning combines physical activity with curriculum content, meaning children are able to learn in a different environment whilst also being active.

Is Physically Active Learning ‘PE’?
Maths and English on the Move are not PE lessons. Our focus is delivering Maths or English objectives whilst being Physically Active, rather than teaching PE based skills. If you are looking for information about our PE services then please get in touch.
Are these sessions delivered weekly?
Yes, Maths and English on the Move are both delivered weekly. A programme is 12 weeks, so 12 x 1 hour lessons for each group. We do need to have a minimum of 2 consecutive hours with you, so you can pick 2 groups of children who will benefit from the programme.
How many children can take part?
Each group can have up to 16 children. As these are intervention programmes, lower group numbers ensure learning can be tailored to the needs of each child..
How much does a programme cost?
This depends on a few factors, including how many lessons you are having per week. We do have a clear pricing structure, so you won't pay any more or less than another school having the same hours. If you would like a quotation for your school please get in touch.
I’d like to see Physically Active Learning in action! How can I do this?
We’re happy to arrange a taster lesson or a trial for your school. Get in touch here and one of our team will give you a call to arrange this. Alternatively, you can watch our short round up video here.
Are your Educators trained teachers?
The Maths and English on the Move programmes are designed, and quality assured by qualified teachers. Educators complete intensive training which has been created and delivered by qualified teachers.
In addition to the Maths and English on the Move training, each Educator has completed the Level 3 PESS Certificate and most recently, they’ve completed the level 4 Sports Coaching apprenticeship (the new CIMSPA minimum), which is best practice qualification for non-QTS educators supporting in Primary Schools.
Are Maths and English on the Move aligned to the National Curriculum?
Yes they are! You can see the full set of lesson objectives here: Maths on the Move Objectives English on the Move Objectives.
How do we know that children are making progress?
Tracking pupil progress is paramount. We will provide qualified and experienced educators and learning materials, in addition to sharing the impact of MOTM via an online platform and regular reports (just the ticket for justifying your premium spends when Ofsted come knocking).
